A Message from the President

 

Dear members of the English-Speaking Club Baden / Brugg,

As we already close the first month of the year, I hope you and your families have had a
wonderful start into 2026.

After another successful year for our club in 2025, including the 50-Year Anniversary Party of
our club, we have already had some interesting gatherings in 2026 such as the Bowling on 7th
January 2026 and the Pub Night on 21st January 2026.

More exciting events are already on the horizon, such as a dinner at Diaw Thai Restaurant on
6th February 2026, our traditional Fondue and Raclette at Chässtübli Monika on 19th February
2026 or a visit to the Pantheon Classic Cars Museum on 4th March 2026.

Furthermore, as every year I would like to welcome you all to our
51st Annual General Meeting
on Wednesday, 25th March 2026, 19:00
at the Restaurant Hirschen in Kirchdorf.

As every year we will look back on the events organised by our club since the last AGM, we
will look ahead to the upcoming events and apart from the reports and the elections (the entire
committee stands for re-election) we will of course have an opportunity for discussions. As
usual, after the AGM, a meal will be offered by the club, and we will have time to chat.
Please do not forget that we need a quorum of one third of the membership to hold the AGM,
so if you are unable to attend, please contact Valery Braun before 18th March (brauva77@gmail.com).

I would like to thank all of you for your ongoing support to our club. My special thanks go to all
members who supplied the committee with ideas and suggestions for events or who even
organised an event.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you at one of the upcoming club events.

Travel to the UK

If you are a dual citizen with British or Irish citizenship, from 22nd February,

you must travel to the UK with your British or Irish passport.

(A Swiss passport won't do to enter the UK, because as a dual citizen you cannot get an ETA.

However, take bath passports If you leave France by car or train, and to show when you return.

Don't be fooled, the immigration authorities know when you are a dual citizen,

as I realised last time I was in Zurich and Singapore airports!)
